About Beth Shearer
Beth Shearer, Senior Associate
Beth Shearer, senior consultant with Betty Johnson & Associates, has worked with nonprofits through her entire career – over 35 years. She has served as a consultant, chief fundraiser, executive director, and board member. Over the years, she has worked and served in the fields of education, early childhood education, community foundations, Catholic Churches, dioceses, and health care. She has successfully completed capital campaigns, scholarship campaigns, and endowment campaigns, raising tens of millions of dollars and building a base of loyal donors for each organization.
Beth started working with Betty Johnson over 15 years ago. In 2017, she took a leave from the firm when the Catholic Diocese of Salina asked her to lead their fundraising office. In Beth’s tenure as Executive Director of Development, she more than doubled the funds raised for the diocesan mission and laid the groundwork for the new Catholic Foundation for Diocese of Salina.
Beth raised funds by adding a major gift effort, estate gifts, expanding the annual and seminarian appeals and organizing successful and meaningful special events. Her work was to match the donors’ philanthropic goals with the needs of the diocese. She built relationships with Catholics throughout the large geographic area served by the diocese and donors responded with major gifts.
In addition to her work with donors, Beth reorganized the development office to be a much more donor focused effort. Beth was able to exceed the fundraising goals even during the turbulent years of the pandemic and resulting economic downturn.
Beth rejoined Betty Johnson and Associates in spring of 2022. Like Betty, Beth believes in the power of a team of staff and volunteers working together. Time and time again, this leads to success as each person adds their skills to the effort.
Beth grew up in Wichita, Kansas. After graduating from Bishop Carroll High School in Wichita, she earned a degree in art education from Emporia State University. Soon after college, she entered the fundraising field at a small Catholic College in Salina.
She is currently living in Windsor, Colorado and is an active member of Our Lady of the Valley Catholic Church. She has two adult sons and a beautiful bright granddaughter. (Aren’t all grandchildren beautiful and bright!)
